Yes, that fellow is supposed to look like a young Albert Einstein. The
characters in this story, by Charles Sheffield, were able to have their
appearance altered. And famous people of the past were popular
models. Mr. Sheffield writes what is termed "hard science fiction".
Because it is extrapolated from current scientific theory or facts. I
liked this story very much.
