"The Metamorphosis", self promotion, Acrylic, 1984

I visited a high school art class to talk over my work and when I learned that
their assignment was to illustrate this Kafka story I said I would also take the
challenge and share my results. I am glad I did. I consider this one of my best
efforts and I had great fun at it. If you examine this piece you will see that I
reversed all the rules of color and composition to make this painting as
uncomfortable as possible without making it downright ugly. Some folks
like this painting for doing what it does. Some just hate it. Either way, it
works for me. I try to remember to examine the intent behind a piece of art.
Then judge it on how well it communicates that intention.
