This was one of the first science fiction alternate history stories.
Barbara is building a time machine. She wants to go back in time.
I will explain away the piece. She is looking backward. if you were
to read the clocks in clockwise order you would notice that they are
each behind the other in time. That doesn't do much to help you with the
real value of this story, however. I was easily able to recognize
why Easton Press included this story in their Masters of Science
Fiction series. It is a wonder.
